Mother-in-Law HELL

My boyfriend and I have been dating for a year and a half now. We’re both in college  and attend the same university. We’re also from the same town and high school. I’m his first girlfriend.

When I first met his mother, she seemed nice enough. She was friendly and invited me over for dinner relatively often. Soon, things turned slightly sour as she enforced “family time” in her house. My boyfriend was to have at least 4 dinners at home per week and spend “quality family time” with her, his father, and his brother at her discretion. His father and younger brother are both laid-back and try to avoid getting involved in her battles with him. They had several family functions over the course of the summer, several of which my BF was allowed to invite friends to, just not me.

My MIL always tries to control my fiance and never listens to any rules we have set place in our home. She thinks she is above everyone and is the mother of the century when in fact she is the worst. I won’t go into the horrible traumatic past of my fiance, lets just say she has put him through worse things in his childhood than most people have to endure in a lifetime.

She acts like a child. She is beyond morbidly obese to the point where she gets disability checks for it, which was her goal since she didn’t want to work for a living. She never washes herself or clean her nightgowns (it is too much effort for her to wear actual clothes). She won’t even go to the bathroom cuz she doesn’t want to put her tevo on pause and walk up the stairs.

My mil is the evilest of all MIL’s I have ever seen. When she comes to our house, we give her a separate room with a double bed, which she refuses to share with her own husband, so we end up giving one more room to my poor father in law. Well, I think its their personal problem and dont get involved.

She decides to have an afternoon sleep on the weekend but for a change sleeps on my bed in my bedroom. I dont have anything else to take off this except that she is trying to keep me and my husband apart.

Right from the start I thought there was something about her the way she grilled me, it was worse than a job interview. She was always commenting about my figure I am a size 6-8 and she goes on about how she was like me and any other girl thinner than her, she has been on a diet since I met her, but never loses any weight.

Oh how inoccent she plays, this girl is the beast of all beast. When I first started dating her brother I thought she was okay but HE warned me to leave her alone. I am Canadian and live in the UK with my English husband. It can be very difficult for me with all my family and friends 3000 miles away.

I put up with a lot from my MIL who made it clear that I wasn’t good enough for her son from the beginning. Normally I wouldn’t roll over so easily, but social rules in England are complex and you can’t just tell someone where to go regardless of what they’ve done or you become the outcast.
