I am about to have my second child and I am not looking forward to breastfeeding since my MIL lives in the same town. With my first child she played the “expert” and made me feel so small because I had trouble. I tried unsuccessfully for two weeks to breastfeed, but my milk never came in. My Dr. said it may have been due to the fact that I had a c-section. Either way, breastfeeding was not a breeze for me. My MIL was so judgemental and would constantly tell me it was natural and that I was doing something wrong because it was easy for her. At one point she came into my room after I had been trying to feed my son for about 30 minutes unsuccessfully. my in-law are here and every night my MIL takes my baby to sleep with them in another room. i dont mind because they will only be here for a couple of months (i wished it was more like a couple of days) and my first born + school just take all the energy out of me so help during the night was fine. i always keep a supply of my pumped milk in the freezer and remind them to just thaw em to feed her with when she’s hungry (which was several times during the night – she’s only over a month). here’s the thing: i have a strong intuition that she is feeding her breasts to calm my baby when she’s fussy. and i have a couple of premises to think that: (1)…

My mother in law is great grandma but she is driving me nuts. She gives me advice and warnings on many fronts which are to my knowledge ridiculous. For instance she wants to me to put my baby in the sink every time she poops in her diaper. She doesn’t like for me to use wipes. She also thinks that I’ll make my daughter cross eyed by giving her toys that she looks at too closely… that I’ll make her bow legged if I let her put weight on her legs when baby clearly is trying to stand up with support against chest… Dear Mother in law thinks that I feed my baby too often and that I should wake the baby from naps so she can play with her. That I need to stop breastfeeding on a certain date she has chosen. She is even starting to talk about…
