My mil is a control nut. I have been with her son for over 10 yrs. and we have 3 kids together. We aren’t perfect people. But, she is nobody to throw stones…. Last Friday we got in a argument and she attacked me in the back of her car. I pry walked 5 miles home from where we were at.I have been the worker most of our relationship, and I lost my job about 4 months ago. I am starting a new one hopefully next week. I have had a very hard life, and trust is a hard thing for me. I always thought of her like a mom. what now?????????????????

Dear Tina: I wish I *could* help you. That’s a mess. When you say she “attacked” you do you mean physically or verbally? If it was physically, possibly you could get a restraining order, if your husband would back you up. If your husband is not backing you up and standing up to his mother, then your chief problem is not your MIL but your DH. Start tracking down information about free couples counseling in your area.
