My MIL always has a Birthday dinner for the FIL whether he wants one or not. She called us all on Thursday to inform us that the bday dinner was on Saturday, never checking to see if we had plans. My cousin was in hospice at the time and his children were flying in from Oregon on Friday to spend time with him. I hadn't seen them (cousins) in person for more then ten years. My husband and I were picking them up from the airport and helping them out. I explained this to MIL and said I may/may not make it to party, husband free to make own decisions. Unfortunately, my cousin passed early Friday morning and unbeknownst to us....MIL changed party to Sunday and was pissed when husband told her what happened and neither one of us would be there. She called in a rage to anyone who would listen to her crazy :(. Thankfully, everyone else has common sense! Who does that kind of stuff?!! Ugh:(
