I have married a man that is extremely sweet and honest. He is genuinely a good person. Yet my fear is that the apple does not fall far from the tree. Both his mother and sister live together and they pop pills like eating candy. They both are terribly afraid of other people. They separate themselves from the entire world because they feel that everyone is out to get them. Once they were angry with me because they thought I was thinking one thing or another. They were too psycho to ask me what I was thinking. They live their lives discussing their large amount of depression and anger towards the world and life itself. Every week they are at the emergency room. I guess that allows them to get some attention. They tell my husband that I am fake and phony but it is only because I try and be nice to them even though they have insulted me and have tried to destroy my marriage. My husband told me that they are his immediate family and that who knows if one day I could be his ex-wife. I have never let that comment go. He said he did not mean it but still he said it and it hurt really bad.

Did he not hear the vows…. “and for this reason, a man should leave his father and his mother, forsaking all others, cling only to her… for as long as you both shall live….” YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO LEAVE YOUR PARENTS AND MAKE YOUR SPOUSE #1 FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Uhhh…wow…WOW! This “My husband told me that they are his immediate family and that who knows if one day I could be his ex-wife.” would have caused WWIII in my house.
The fact that he even said that to you is unforgivable.
So amazed by this little boy needs his mommy syndrome. After I first posted how aweful it was that he said, “ they are his immediate family and that who knows if one day I could be his ex-wife.” the same DANG thing happened to me! So grateful we are all in this together!
My MIL and SIS are the same way. Do they both happen to also have middle child syndrome? My MIL and SIS do. My sister in law spends money like it grows on trees and spends it on stupid shit, not her daughter. Leaving my MIL to have to pay for my SIS and niece. And my MIL has 3 other grandkids. My SIL has never lived away from her parents for more than 8 months, and i well, the worlds biggest bitch. They say shes just a mean person, and then turn around and say “she has a Learning Dissability” you need to be nice to her even if she is a total bitch to me, i have to be nice. My MIL is manipulative, and has the devil within her. I totaly feel your pain. My SIL got hurt and ruined my wedding and miraculously was heeled in record time. Either my MIL or SIL always have to be the center of attention. I Can totally relate to you. I feel your pain, and you are not a lone!
Stop visiting them. Let your husband go by himself. If they are why you didn’t come, maybe tell your husband to tell them that you “didn’t want to be fake and phoney anymore by pretending to be nice to them”.
As far as the ex-wife comment, he could have easily said that they are family and you can’t pick your family. They sound like nutters. They are going to talk behind your back no matter what you do.
