I am staying with my fiancé at his mother’s house for a week and have never met her. Any advice? I also want to bring her a little gift for when I get there…ideas?
Thanks!

Meeting the MIL for the first time can be a nerve-wracking experience. I would advise you not to try to impress her with your extensive knowledge of your fiance, as this usually flares up the jealousy factor; especially if he’s the only child, only son, or the oldest. Try bringing a framed picture of you and your fiance, if you have a professional picture, or a favorite candid picture that you’ve taken. She’ll be more likely to treasure it than a candle you picked out at Pier One! Good luck!!!!!
doesn’t matter what you do, she’ll still hate you. just be polite and bite your tongue - and get used to it… you’ll be doing it for years.
Maybe you have already gone, but if not, I suggest a bottle of wine. you can go to Micheals (or somewhere else) and purchase a gift basket and fill it with items you think she might enjoy such as flavored coffee, mixed nuts, a candel, a flip album of photos of you and your fiance, wine… I suggest getting a theme and sticking to it rather than filling it with random items though.
Good luck. I will be doing the same next week.
