Mother-in-Law HELL

My BF & I have been together for 3+ yrs. And since 2+yrs ago we talked about getting married. We done some ground work like finding bridal boutiques and venues but it never materialized. His parents always couldn’t settle on a good date. (they are supertistious)
And he works for their own family’s company. I used to have my own job but 2 yrs ago his mum nagged him for me to join them. Not wanting him to be in a difficult position, I took the plunge but it was the beginning of a nightmare.
At the beginning it was cordial. But gradually it became worse. Both his parents are very difficult demanding and traditional. Being Asian, they expect “yes” all the time and no so-called “talking back”. So there’s no communication. Just monologue. They talk you listen you do.

I regularly read stories on this site but have never posted. However, the pressure is too much and I need to vent!

I’ve been married just under 5yrs. Lived with inlaws for my first 2yrs while saving money to move out. Husband is fantastic but always hindered by his Mum.

My MIL has never done anything right by me, making requests at my wedding, rude to my family and treating me like a slave. I can’t even put into words how angry she makes me.

A month after our marriage, she got drunk with her sisters and bossed me around with chores; she goes on about how my family is my past and now I am their daughter…yet she doesn’t even talk to her inlaws. Everything is about her family so if I have a party at my house with my family for a change…she throws a fit.

I wanted to thank you guys for having the courage to write about what is going on with you MILs and ofthe ILs. I don’t even know where to begin with mine, though I am not sure I think she is the devil, she sure acts like she has a demon. When my husband and I met, he had kids from a previous marriage and so did I. And from the moment they met, our kids did not have an issue with each other. Then our ex’s found out about us and they tried to poison the kids against one another and against us. Holiday time! So of course our MILs are at it with a vengeance!

I have been married nearly 10 years. Decided to go back to school to finish my bachelor’s degree. I am in the process of applying to med schools. I am guessing that my MIL feels as though women should be doing domestic labor only, because she has been CONSTANTLY discouraging me from going to med school. She has told me I should just work in retail, or in a restaurant, etc… but pretty much anything but med school. There’s nothing wrong with the other professions, but they are a complete diversion from what I’ve been studying. Why would I want to start from scratch? My mil is so annoying with my child! She will text dh during the day saying she will be up and will come at half past 6 when he only gets in from work at quarter past! She will then expect to have my child all evening and complaining if she wants to be fed because shes missing out! Baby has a routine of bath at half  past 7 and bed at 8 and she will leave as the baby goes in to bed!
