Boy or Girl!

Posted by: Stacey

My first pregnancy and we didn’t want to find out what we were having…and we didn’t, but SHE wanted to know…but we stood our ground and didn’t find out…well, after a very long labor and emergency c-section, we had a beautiful baby girl! When my husband went out to share the news, she made a disgusted face…now she over compensates by coming over and blubbering all over my daughter…and while I was in the hospital, she came to visit and brought HERSELF something to eat…didn’t even call to see if we needed anything….

  1. My MIL cried when she found out that we were having a beautiful baby girl. She then said that the Doctors sometimes get these things wrong and that we needed a boy to carry on the family name!!!! After our daughters birth, she made comments such as “Its not too bad having a grand daughter” and even told us to have another straight away! Whenever we see her now (which is not very often) she totally goes over the top where our daughter is concerned. She is a total fake and is just acting as far as I am concerned.

  2. Guilt takes on many forms doesn’t it???

  3. I have heard many stories like this and quite frankly the MIL involved needs a good kick up the rear. My husband and myself have wonderful MIL’s and they couldn’t give a rats behind what sex our children turned out to be they are loved.

  4. mine wants to poke her nose in all aspects of my pregnancy. initially i was very happy thinking she would really help. now i realise how fake her help was. From coming to stay with us for a couple of months to help it is now 1 month not to mention on her terms, i am not allowed to say anything in the way she would manage my home!!! I dont know what todo as my husband is really busy and my mother is not in a position to come so i am kinda dependent on her and she knows it!!!

lately i came to know, she has started calling my friends and asking them about help in my area. Surprisingly none of these frnds called me to let me know which hurts me but worst is MIL is lookiing for help to help her when she will be coming to help me!!!!! I am really confused asto how to react.

  5. My MIL was also unhappy when we found out that we were having a girl. The day that we found out we told her and she said “I knew you were having a girl but i was hoping it was a boy.” How sad! The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree because not long after, my husband’s grandmother asked me if my husband was disappointed that we were having a girl. Frustrated, I asked her why he would be as long as she is healthy, and she told me that she cried each time a daughter was born(she had four daughters and then two sons)! I dont know what is wrong with these people! I was furious on the day of my baby shower that she threw me, as i was opening the gifts from her, she commented in front of my husbands entire family that she wished that she were buying blue instead of pink but oh well! I just looked at her and said “Oh im sure that you will get YOUR boy eventually!” But now she is head over heels for our daughter and i am just thankful that my little girl has no idea what her grandmother had to say about her before she was even born!
