Mother-in-Law HELL

I am from india. My husband is the only child of his parents. He worships them like anything. We got married because they could not say no to their son otherwise they were not fond of me. He is working at a very good position in the public sector. We are living away from them bcoz of his postings, but they visit us twice in a year for about one month each.
this time is really worst for me in the year. she keeps nagging, interfering, pointing out mistakes as soon as she sees me. and my father in law also joins. Issues vary from the improper maintenance of the house, my inability to manage the workers in my house, i am not strict enough, i did not deserve to get such a good husband without dowry,my parents did not give good values to me, they did not teach me to…

My FMIL feels the need to plan my casual outdoor summer wedding, into a formal, elegant, summer wedding. My mother and a few of my family members are taking care of this wedding and the plans, so I am as stress free as possible. My fiance is in the Army, so dealing with that is hard enough. I thank my family greatly for doing this, but my FMIL is killing me with all of these suggestions about how to make my wedding more formal. I can’t tell her no because we are finally “getting along”. My mother tells me she will take care of it, but I’m afraid it’ll ruin the “relationship” we’ve created. First of all, I am from Asia and I am single, but I would like to share 2 shocking observation I had encountered regarding a MIL and DIL.

i got married 6 months back. I know I said there were many stories to come and I just hope this helps other people out there realize they are not alone. After several months of dating her son, I was invited to come to the beach with the family for the weekend. I graciously accepted and made sure to go out of my way to bring food and wine (her favorite meal of the day). My partner and I live in a different country than my partner’s parents. There is a damn good reason for this – they’re completely bonkers.

Now, the in-laws used to work for an airline, so they fly out at least once a year. In the past, this hasn’t caused too much drama – they usually stayed with other relatives in town, as we’ve always lived in flats that didn’t have enough room for guests.
