Mother-in-Law HELL

I have been with my husband for six years but we have only been married for seven months. We just moved into her basement so we could save some money and get on the right foot. Things have not been so easy. My husband lost his job and my hours have been cut back. To make things worse, she is “disabled” so she is ALWAYS around. At first, she was always around me and in my buisness. Now it just seems like she is two-faced and trys to cause problems. She says all kinds of stuff. She lies to people about me just so they are against me. She tells me other people say things about me just so I will be mad at them, but all along she is the actual person who said it. This is how bad this lady is, and I’m sry if this is long but someone has to know this stuff:

1. One x-mas she asked me, “Oh, what are you getting him for x-mas?” and I said, “I got him a portable toolkit” (which he needed). She goes and, on x-mas day in front of his whole family, reveal a HUGE tool kit, right after I gave him my small one.

Please help me know that I am not mean or out of line in my thinking. My husband and I got married 8 months ago, and I started to see it start then. His sister left before the photos could be taken because, supoosedly, her son, who was the ring bearer, was getting tired! Well, in December we found out that we were pregnant. My husband and I have been married 2 years and have been together 6. My MIL and my husband got into it (I was unaware) because she thought that his old cradleboard (Native American, handmade cradle, heirloom) would be the perfect place to hang his ex-girlfriend’s graduation shawl. I’m a mother of 2 little ones, my husband & I live with his parents. So my inlaws are really heavy smokers and they smoke around all their grandkids. My son is barely 6 months old and it is making him very sick. We think he is most likely allergic because I am and so is my brother. So I asked them if they could just smoke in one room of their house so that he wouldn’t be exposed to the second hand and third hand smoke. The reason I know this was making him sick is because we only go up there on Sundays and every Monday he was sick and I would have to take him to the doctor.
