Mother-in-Law HELL

I have a bright son with special needs that has made tremendous progress in the last year since his diagnosis and starting treatment. My mother in law refuses to say anything nice about him. Everytime I see her she raves about how great her own daughter’s child is, so much calmer than my child, organized, etc. She babysits her granddaughter all the time but refuses to watch my kids for even 1/2 hr to help us out or let me and my husband grab coffee. The last two times we asked her to briefly help out she backed out right away.
My son has had such a hard time in life and I fear he will catch onto this as he gets older.
