Mother-in-Law HELL

I think there is a rare type of psychotic MIL that occurs when she is a single mother with one child…her precious only son. These woman tend to have a codependent, unhealthy relationship with there son. They create demands that no woman should place on there child. Often he is expected to be perfect, accomplished and successful. This is rewarding to psycho mom because it strokes her parenting ego. He is also burdened with “man of the house” roles usually well before the boy is actually a man. Because his mom doesn’t have a man of her own, she taxes her son’s sanity by subjecting him to emotional adult problems. If her precious son manages to escapes this unhealthy living environment unscathed it will prompt mommy to divulge to him the true depth of her insanity. I told MIL that my grandmother all of 93 year old fell and has slightly fractured her spine but she is okay. She tells me “your Granny and grandmother are better off dead…it’s not right that grandparents should get to live for so long.”  She was dead serious and slightly angry too (For reasons I have no clue of) when she said so.
I was shocked .. she also is a grandmother now. Should I tell her that she is better dead now. When I told my hubby this, he says that I didn’t get it. She was cracking a joke. Hello! I didn’t get this joke, am I stupid or what?

Although I can be a bit biased it when it comes to my mother in general(she is funny,sweet and my very best friend), one thing is certain. i’ve just got married to my partner and have been living around the corner from his mom & dad now for the last year! i was worried about this but it is a nice area and my partner assured me it would be ok! was i wrong! my in law’s think that they can just call round whenever they like without arranging this first. my family would never dream of this so i like to know that i have privacy. When they have called round they have always made comments about the house or that i’m not dressed yet etc they treat us like we are twelve years old. my partner thinks this is ok and thinks that i should open up. I started my day off on the wrong foot. I woke up and just felt tired, bloated and grumpy. I have been staying up late working on the site and then dealing with stressful work issues all week. Then I go to make coffee and realize that I don’t have any milk and can’t drink it black. At only 8am, I wanted the day to be over. I get dressed and my jeans felt tight even though I have been eating healthy. That bummed me out too. Before heading to work, I had to pick up a few things at the supermarket. I grab the stuff I need at the store and head out to my car. Ok…. here it goes. I am a handsome successful Married guy here and although I can tolerate my mother in law, she tends to get on my nerves and cause undue stress.

My wife is Jewish and I am Italian LOL. She lives 1800 miles from us, but it seems she always has an opinion on how I/We run our lives and our new baby girl.

She is always calling and spreading rumors and gossip about her neighbors,friends and family. It gets old after awhile to the point I dont even answer the phone.

Last year we bought a beautiful new boat and take it out often on the lake. Each time we go out, she always calls and tells me “You need to get rid of the boat” because she thinks boating is dangerous and unsafe.

My husband and I have been married for 4 yrs this August. For the most part, my MIL and I get along. It just seems like she is always saying little things to get at me. If I say I didn’t clean my husband’s boots, she replies, I always clean Eric’s(FIL) boots and start his car.
